لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ ٱللَّٰهِ
"La ilaha illallah, Muhammadur Rasulullah"
(There is no god worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah)
What is the Shahada? The Shahada is the first pillar of Islam. It is the declaration of faith that makes one a Muslim. By saying it with sincere belief, you enter Islam.
The Two Parts Explained in Detail:
This phrase has three important meanings: Negation - there is no god; Affirmation - except Allah; Implication - we worship Allah alone.
This affirms belief in Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the final prophet, and that we follow his example.
How to Take Shahada: Understand the meaning, believe in your heart, say it aloud, take a shower, start learning prayer.
Common Questions: No witnesses needed, you can keep your name, Arabic isn't required, Allah is Merciful.
Wudu is the ritual washing before prayer. The Prophet ﷺ said: "When a Muslim performs wudu, his sins leave his body with the water."
What breaks wudu: Using bathroom, passing gas, deep sleep, bleeding, vomiting.
Benefits of Prayer: Connects you with Allah, brings peace, forgives sins, disciplines the soul.
The Quran is the literal word of Allah revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ over 23 years. It's the final guidance for humanity.
Tips: Set a small goal, read with meaning, reflect on one verse, join a study circle.
Jumu'ah is the Friday congregational prayer. It replaces Dhuhr prayer.
For sisters: Jumu'ah is optional - you can pray Dhuhr at home.
Hadith: "The best day on which the sun rises is Friday."
